Based on the true story of the Battle of Saragarhi fought between 21 Sikhs vs 10,000 Afghans in 1897. The story is telling the story of 21 brave soldiers to belong to the Sikh regiment of the British Indian Army.
Akshay Kumar playing the lead role along with the female lead Parineeti Chopra. The movie is set to release next month and after watching the trailer fans are excited to know more.

1. Who are these 21 Sikhs?
After the fall of Saragarhi, during the Tirah Campaign, 21 brave Sikh soldiers of the 4th Battalion of British India’s Sikh Regiment decide to guard their posts against the army of 10,000 tribesmen from Orakzai and Afghan. They decided not to surrender and fought till their last breath. Posthumously UK parliament awarded them with the Indian Order of Merit.
2. Kill Count
The Battle of Saragarhi occurred on 12 September 1897 when around 10,000 Orakzai and Afghan tribesman attacked the Saragarhi post. Sepoy Gurmukh Singh immediately informed about the situation to Colonel Haughton, situated in Fort Lockhart. Colonel cannot provide the support on time. That’s why 21 brave soldiers decided to guard their posts instead of surrendering. Even after approximately 9-12 hours, there were only 2 casualties from the Skihs still 10 Sikh soldiers. They fight till their last breath, Pashtuns admitted that they had lost about 180 people in the battle.

4. Saragarhi Day
Every year on 12 September, after the epic battle of 21 vs 10,000, military and non-military people celebrate the Sikh military commemoration day all over the world. Indian Sikh regiment particularly celebrates this day as their regiments “battle honour day.” Brave soldiers also engaged in close range hand to hand combat with the intruders in which Havaldar Ishar Singh defeated 20 people alone.
5. UNESCO titled it as bravest in the history
Not just us but everyone else int he world believe that this was one of the bravest and furious battles in the history of mankind. The tale of their glory and death has also recorded in the list of “8 stories of collective bravery in the history of mankind” published by UNESCO.
