Polling for the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections 2024 began on Friday at 7 a.m. in 102 parliamentary seats spanning across 21 states and union territories. Apart from that, voting for assembly elections in the northeastern states of Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim began on Friday morning, as did voting for the first round of Lok Sabha elections.
Arunachal Pradesh will vote for two Lok Sabha seats and the 60-member Assembly. Aside from Arunachal, Sikkim will vote for 32 assembly seats and one Lok Sabha seat. For voters who couldn’t find their voter ID cards at the last minute, the Election Commission has released a notification of 11 alternative IDs that can be used to vote.

- If a person does not have a voter ID card, they can vote using their Aadhaar card.
- Passbooks can be used as an alternate form of identification to vote.

- The health insurance smart card issued by the Ministry of Labour can also be utilized.
- Driving licenses can also be used as proof of identification when voting in polling booths.
- Voters utilize their PAN cards rather than Voter ID cards to vote.
- RGI issued smart cards under NPR.
- Employees of the Central/State Government/PSUs/Public Limited Companies are provided Service Identity Cards with Photographs.
- Official Identity Cards issued to MPs/MLAs/MLCs.
- Unique Disability ID (UDID) Card, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India.
