Here Is What You Can Do, If Your Name Is Missing From The Voter List

We have reached the fourth phase of Lok Sabha elections 2019. Covering 9 states and 71 seats, the fourth phase of election is set to start from today, 29 April 2019.

The fate of 961 candidates will be get decided by 12.79 crore voters during this fourth phase of Lok Sabha elections 2019. Union ministers Giriraj Singh, Subhash Bhamre, S S Ahluwalia and Babul Supriyo of the BJP and former Union ministers Salman Khurshid and Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury of the Congress, are some of the notable names taking part in this election.

But before heading to get your finger inked and cast your vote, make sure your name is in the voter’s list. Because you won’t be allowed to cast your vote if your name is not the list. Even though, you have all the necessary documents, including your voter I’d.

How am I going to know if my name is on the list?

Before the start of every General election, Election Commission provides a voter slip to all the citizens who are eligible to cast and had registered themselves as a voter. This slip along with a photo ID proof, allow you to cast your vote.

In case, you didn’t receive any voter slip, you might not be able to cast your vote. But don’t worry, there is still hope. Citizens can check their eligibility online or through a call to find out if their name is on the voter list or not.

How can I check if my name is on the list or not?

There are more than just one way to check your name on the voter list or not? The first and easiest method to do so is via SMS.

Simply type ‘EPIC’ (space) enter your voter ID number and sent the text at 7738299899.

In case you forgot how to send a text message (SMS), you can also call the helpline number ‘1950’ to verify your name in the voter list. Other than call or sending SMS, EC has allowed citizens to check their name in the voter list, online. Knowing the digital trend, it is no surprise EC has included online means for the citizens to check their voting eligibility.

To check your name online, simply visit the National Voter Service portal. At the top left, you’ll see an option ‘Search Your Name in Electoral Roll,’ click on it.

Enter your name and other mandatory details to check your eligibility. You can also do the search with the help of your voter Id number. Simply click on the ‘Search by EPIC number.’

Don’t forget to cast your vote

If your name appears on the search results than you are eligible to cast your vote. But if you are unable to find your name, means that your name is missing from the voter’s list. In this case, you can either contact the support team on the website or register again.

Your vote is important, make sure your name is in the list before you go to cast vote.
