mAadhaar App: Benefits, How To Use It?

Aadhaar Card was launched in 2009, its first UID number was issued to a resident of Nandurbar, Maharashtra on January 29th over decades ago. Since then, this unique 12-digit identification code carrying document has become the most essential part of our lives. With this ID, an Indian citizen proves his identity and can provide it as residence proof when required in any official process. Moreover, in recent years, the Government has made it mandatory to link Aadhaar Card with other important IDs like PAN Card, Driving Licences and also to bank accounts. Because of all these reasons an individual is required to carry his Aadhaar Card all the time. But, now comes the problem of carrying a physical copy of your original Aadhaar card all the time. You just can’t do it, as there will always be the risk of losing it. So, to solve this issue, the Government has assisted the citizens with a digital solution called the mAadhaar app.

mAadaar is a smartphone application launched by the Government to eliminate the problem of carrying a physical Aadhaar all time. In this era of smartphones, this app will allow you to produce and share a digital copy of your Aadhaar on demand. The complete process is very easy to understand and execute, within a few minutes. To put it simply, when you log in to mAadaar it gets into the UIDAI database and fetches your digital ID for you to display it to any official.

How To Download, Install and Use mAadhaar App To Download Aadhaar?

  • First access Google Play Store if you have an android os or go to Apple App Store if you have an iOS device.
  • Search for mAadhaar and install it.
  • After installation opens the application and completes all the prompts including permissions.
  • Now register via registered mobile number, receive the OTP, verify yourself and log in.
  • As soon as the main page opens, you will see a very first option saying “Download Aadhaar”.
  • On the next screen, you will get to choose whether to download normal Aadhaar or masked. Choose the one you prefer and continue to verify yourself.
  • To verify yourself to download the aadhaar you prefer, you will have to fill in a full Aadhaar number, Enrollment ID number or Virtual ID number.
  • Now you will have to verify yourself with OTP to download the aadhaar.
  • You will receive the OTP on your linked mobile number and enter it into the app.
  • Once done you will be able to download Aadhaar in PDF format.
  • The PDF file will be password protected with 8 digit password, out of which the first four will be the first letters of your name in capital and the last four will be your birth year.
