Man Duped Of Rs 1.3 Lakhs Trying To Buy Liquor Online

Buying Liquor online turned out to be a nightmare for a person from Bengaluru. Arjun Jagannathan a 40-year-old software engineer lost Rs 1.3 lakh to a fraudster while trying to order Liquor online.

Arjun called an outlet delivering liquor to home. He searched for such outlets and got one number online. On-call a man pretending to be staffer said that the bill of his order was Rs 1,500. Asking for online payment, the fraudster asked Arjun Jagannathan to share OTPs thrice in a row by blaming technical issues. This resulted in Rs 78,742 being debited from his account.

Further, he asked Arjun to scan a Paytm QR code to get the amount back, leading to Rs 49,001 more being debited. An FIR (First Information Report) has been filed under the Information Technology Act and police is making efforts to nab the fraudster.
