The women who faced the molestation took to Twitter to share her plight. The women shared a photo of the man, unsure of when she took it, saying that she was “numbed by the incident.”
The timestamp on the photo shows 6:11 PM and the location marked is the Sultanpur water treatment plant, even though it was taken after the incident. The woman is also unsure of when the man got off the metro. The woman wrote the detailed narrative on twitter tagging DMRC (Delhi Metro Rail Corporation). The lady also tagged the Delhi Police.
DMRC quickly responded to the tweet and said that they are investigating the matter. The DMRC said the women should have informed earlier so that quick action could have been taken. When the woman called the ‘Women’s helpline’ she was casually redirected to the Ghitorni police station.
Complaints of sexual harassment is not new in Delhi Metro. In June last year, a 29-year-old woman took to Twitter to share a similar account. A man allegedly masturbated in front of her at the Huda City Centre Metro Station complex in Gurugram. A 2019 report of India Today showed how such cases were on the rise in the metro.
