Doing so he became only the 23rd Indian to score a Test double hundred for India. This is only his 5th test match for India and first in domestic conditions. Only Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kholi are the other two members besides Agarwal in the current test squad who have scored a Test double ton.
With Rohit Sharma, he stitched a 317 run partnership for the 1st wicket earlier in the day. Rohit missed on his double ton by 24 runs as he fell prey to Keshav Maharaj. Mayank was dismissed by Dean Elgar before the Tea break at a score of 215.
India is placed nicely at 450/5 (Till Tea on Day 2) and would look to tighten the grip in the final session of the first test.
