2020 has been the year of strange and adverse things so far. From pandemic to gas leaks we have seen it all in the last 6 months. But wait there is more to come. And this time it is the fall of an alien object from the space. A meteorite like an object has hit the ground in Rajasthan.
The object weighing around 2.8 Kg to 3 Kg fell from the sky in Sanchore town of Rajasthan’s Jalore district on Friday. The object fell with an explosion creating a crater on the surface of a depth of 2-3 feet. Residents reported hearing a blast and finding a huge stone near Gayatri Chowk area of the town following which they informed the police and local authorities. The sound of the blast could be hear as far as 2 Kms.
“Meteorite’-like object was found at around 7 am. It weighed around 2.8 kg“, said the sub-divisional officer at Sanchore Bhupendra Yadav. The officials got the object tested at a private lab located at the jeweler’s shop. The test showed that the object has 10.23 percent of nickel, 85.86 percent of iron, platinum 0.5 percent, cobalt 0.78 percent, geranium 0.02 percent, antimony 0.01 percent niobium 0.01 and other 3.02 percent.
Geologists in the Geographical Survey of India’s Ahmedabad and Jaipur office were contacted. The object would be sent to Delhi for further research.
