Last night, during the match between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals, fans got to see a furious face on their favorite, Captain Cool (MS Dhoni).
Dhoni is a very cool person, who has good relations with everyone. He is respected by the team. He is respected for his game and loved by his fans as well. But yesterday night was different, as Dhoni literally blasted on umpire Ulhas Gandhe.
But why he did so?
In this ongoing IPL season, Chennai Super Kings is doing exceptionally good. CSK just recorded their sixth win, out of the seven matches team played this season. In yesterday’s IPL match CSK (Dhoni’s team) was facing the Rajasthan Royals. CSK was chasing down a moderate target of 152 runs.
Dhoni himself scored 58 runs in 43 balls, while Ambati Rayudu hit the score of 57 runs in 47 balls before the fifth wicket. The match was getting interesting with every passing ball. Then came the last over, which was bowled by the Ben Stokes. He had to defend 17 runs in this last over to make sure their team wins.
Over started with a beautiful six scored by’Sir’ Jadeja, this must have shooked Stokes. But he managed to take things control by taking the wicket of Dhoni on his 3rd delivery.
But the problem started with the 4th delivery. As Umpire Ulhas Gandhe signaled a no-ball on the fourth delivery of the over.
Though it looked like Stokes had bowled too high over the waistline and Bruce Oxenford (leg-umpire) standing at square leg said it was not a no-ball. This raised a confusion ensued and sir-Jadeha, who was at the non-striker’s position immediate get into an argument with the umpires.
This made Dhoni lose all his calm and he came charging on the field. Dhoni was angry and pointing out at Ulhas Gandhe for taking a wrong decision. Though, he regains his calm after the spectacular win of CSK.
But he has to pay the fine
Dhoni walking on the middle of the field and offending umpires is not acceptable. The authorities found it very disturbing and MS Dhoni was fined 50 percent match fee for Code of Conduct breach.
Article 2.20 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, talks about the actions that are against the spirit of the game. Last night match, no-ball controversy has imposed a 50% fine on Dhoni.
