Finishing Off In Style: MS Dhoni & Suresh Raina Choose Independence Day To Retire From International Cricket

Indian cricket had to experience two back to back blows on Saturday after MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina announced their retirement from International cricket respectively.

After playing 90 Tests, 350 ODIs and 98 T20Is for India and giving us so many moments to cherish, the retirement decision of the former Indian team captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, got netizens emotional.

With the retirement from all forms of the game, MS Dhoni brought the curtain down on his illustrious 15-year career as an India cricketer.

The last match MS Dhoni played for India was the semi-final of the 2019 World Cup. India lost the match to New Zealand at Old Trafford in Manchester, played over two days on July 9 and 10.

Dhoni has annouced his retirement from Test cricket back in 2014. He is celebrated for his best wicketkeeping skills and a tremendous average of 50.57 in 350 ODIs. Dhoni has scored 10773 runs and has 10 centuries and 73 fifties to his name.

He is fifth Indian and only 12th cricketer to score more than 10,000 runs in ODI.

Raina Retires Too

Soo after Dhoni announced his retirement, Suresh Raina posted a picture on Instagram to call his retirement following Dhoni.

Both Dhoni and his Chennai Super Kings teammate Raina arrived in Chennai on Friday for a short training camp ahead of the IPL in UAE. Suresh Raina has been out of international cricket for a while.
