As the number of cases keeps rising in Maharashtra which has become the ‘center of corona’ in India lockdown in hotspots can be extended. The two major COVID-19 centers of the state Mumbai and Pune would be locked till June. The statement of officials has given the hint as the Economic Times reports.
Out of total cases (6,817 as of now), Mumbai accounts for 4,447 while Pune is at second with 961. This has created some serious issues for the local administration to contain the spread. “As of now, there is no question of lifting the lockdown in the Mumbai and Pune MMR region. In fact, with the rising numbers, there may be a need to tighten restrictions“, said a government official.
The Pune administration has already enforced the lockdown more severely and the whole city has been turned into a containment zone. People are allowed to only step out for two hours daily to buy groceries.
Similar kinds of restrictions were bought in effect from Saturday by Uttar Pradesh government. The state’s hotspot Noida and Ghaziabad would witness these time restrictions of sale of groceries.
