Mumbai Schools To Reopen On Monday: Read Detail

Schools in Maharashtra will reopen from next week. All the schools will have to make sure that Covid protocols are in place. Maharashtra Education Minister, Varsha Gaikwad made the announcement today.

She said, “From 24 (January) we will be reopening schools for classes 1-12th with COVID protocols; Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has agreed to our proposal.”

Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope said last week that there are demands to reopen the schools in the state. He said, “Demands are rising from certain quarters for reopening of schools as children are suffering the education loss.”

Previously Maharashtra Government announced that schools will be closed in the state till February 15 as the number of Covid cases were surging.

Varsha Gaikwad said, “After COVID cases rose, the government decided not to continue with the school (offline) sessions. But after discussion with the experts, it has been decided to start the sessions where the number of cases is low based on the local COVID-19 situation.”

Yesterday Maharashtra recorded 43,697 fresh cases of Covid and out which 214 cases were of Omicron variant. The state also recorded 49 deaths due to the infection. The number was 10 percent more than the previous day.
