NASA Opens Rock Sample From Moon For The First Time In 40 Years

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration recently opened an untouched rock and soil sample which the space organization had collected from the Moon. The rock was brought to the Earth on Apollo 17, the final mission of NASA’s Apollo program. The sample had been collected by NASA astronauts Gene Cernan and Jack Schmitt,

“Since the Apollo era, all samples that were returned to Earth have been carefully stored in the laboratory to preserve them for future generations,” said NASA. The sample was opened on November 5, it added.
