Hours after the cremation of Goa’s former CM, Pramod Sawant was sworn in as the new chief minister of Goa. The ceremony was held around 2 AM on Tuesday. Pramod Sawant along with 11 other MLA’s also sworn in as ministers to become the members of the cabinet.
Sudin Dhawalikar from Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) and Vijai Sardesai of Goa Forward party (GFP) took their oaths as Deputy Chief Ministers on Tuesday. Other than them Manohar Ajgaonkar of (MGP), Govind Gawde and Rohan Khaunte (both independents) also took their oaths as cabinet ministers.
But what’s next? What are the changes we are going to see under the rule of new CM, Pramod Sawant? Don’t worry here is what CM himself stated for the future of Goa.
What are Pramod Sawant’s plans for Goa?
After the demise of Goa’s former chief minister, BJP held a meeting with all of his allies to discuss the topic of power sharing in the state. In which, BJP decided to offer CM’s position to his own party member (Pramod Sawant), and the posts of deputy chief minister to two of its allies.
The meeting was held minutes after Manohar Parrikar was given a state funeral with full military honors on Monday. The oath-taking ceremony was supposed to start at 11 pm on Monday. But there was a delay and it took place at very odd hours, around 2 am.
After the oath-taking ceremony, finally, Pramod Sawant appeared in front of the media.
When asked about his plans for Goa, he said, “I have stepped into big shoes. Mr. Parrikar had a vision of development for Goa and that is what I will pursue. We will fulfill his dream.”
He knows that being a CM is a big responsibility, on his way to Governor’s residence, the new CM of Goa told reporters, “It is a big responsibility that BJP has given me. I will try my best to fulfill my duties to the best of my abilities. I am what I am today because of Manohar Parrikar.”
Don’t know what going to happen later, but for now, it seems like Goa doesn’t have to worry about anything as their new CM will be working for them.
46-years-old, Pramod Sawant is an Ayurvedic practitioner who has now become the new chief minister of Goa. He has certainly covered a long road to becoming the CM of Goa. Looking at his background he seems like a decent guy. But is he going to do what he said in front of the media? Is he going to be a CM of common people just like the former CM of Goa?
