New Tax e-filing Portal: Is it Possible To File An Income Tax Return Using This New Portal? Detailed Instructions for Using the Login Form

All taxpayers in India who owe income tax must submit their returns by the end of the month, which falls on December 31, 2021. A month from now, December 1st, this is the day. For the financial year 2021-22, taxpayers must file their Income Tax Returns (ITRs), failing which they may find themselves in a lot of difficulty.

The government has introduced an e-filing platform that allows people to submit their tax returns online from the convenience of their own homes, as was stated earlier this year. However, the user must first log in to the income tax e-portal in order to utilise the services.

Although it was launched on June 7, the site was everything but “taxpayer-friendly.” “to put things in perspective. A number of errors were detected by users on the e-filing platform. As a result, Nirmala Sitharaman, the Union Finance Minister, summoned Infosys and gave them till September 15 to remedy the problems.

The deadline for this notice, which had been scheduled for September 31, had been extended by the Incomme Tax Department. Further, the deadline to file an income tax returns, which was originally due on July 31st of this year, but was extended to September 30th by Circular No.9/2021 on May 20th of this year, has been extended to December 31st of this year.” “In a statement, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) said.

Users may quickly submit their tax returns utilising the income tax e-portal provided by Infosys in October. At https://www.incometax.gov.in/, you’ll need to register and log in to the site in order to do this

Here’s how to use the website to access the tax e-portal.

  • On the site, click the Login Here link to begin the process of signing in.
  • Fill in your Permanent Account Number (PAN) in the Enter Your User ID option and then click on Continue.
  • It’s now time to confirm the Secure Access Message that was sent to your device.
  • After this, click on the Continue button.
  • You may opt to receive the 6-digit OTP through text message or voice call from this point on. Press enter once you’ve selected an option and it’s highlighted in green. After 15 minutes, the OTP expires and you must re-generate it. Three tries are all you’ll need to get the appropriate one-time password.
  • Click on Login after entering the OTP that was sent to your registered phone number or email address. After successful verification, the income tax e-filing dashboard will display.

Logging onto the e-filing site for federal income taxes is also possible via the use of your registered Aadhaar number or net banking. You must input your Aadhaar number and the OTP as instructed to log in to Aadhaar. To access your account using online banking, you’ll need to provide your user ID and password.

Once you’ve signed in, you’ll need to submit your FY21-22 tax returns. As a result, you’ll have to pay a penalty when you file your taxes in the future. If you submit your return after the deadline has passed, you will owe additional taxes. You should submit your tax return online utilising the income tax e-filing system before it’s too late.
