Omicron Cases Grow: Nearly 83 Lakhs Collected In Fines

On Tuesday, Delhi Disaster Management Authority announced Yellow Alert in Delhi due to rise in Omicron cases in the capital. Authorities have issued new guidelines to control the situation. Public is paying heavy fines for violating Covid guidelines.

4392 violations have been officially recorded as per data presented by Delhi Government .

Reasons For Violation

Lack or incorrect usage of mask is the major cause of violations. North Delhi reported nearly 700 cases, East Delhi 635 cases and South West Delhi 502 cases.

83 cases for violating norms of social distancing and 60 cases for spitting in a public place have been registered.

Police has filed 63 FIRs for violating Covid norms.

Delhi government has collected nearly 86 lakh rupees in fines.

On December 25, disturbing images came from Sarojini Market. Sarojini Market is one among the many crowded markets in the capital. The scene looked like the people have never even heard of Covid virus.

Similar visuals came from Janpath Market and Meena Bazaar located in Central Delhi.

Current Situation Regarding Omicron Cases

Delhi has most number of Omicron cases as compared to other states and UTs. The number of Covid cases has jumped to great heights as well. Authorities are concerned about the situation in the capital.

The spike rate is 21% faster than that of second wave that came in March, 2021.

Schools, colleges, coaching centers, movie theatres, gym and spas are running shut.

Satyendar Jain, Delhi Health Minister has warned the people. According to him, Omicron strain of Covid has reached the stage of community spread.

People need to be careful regarding their movement and should take all precautions when they step out of their homes.
