Pakistan Tour Of England: 7 More Member Of The 29 Player Squad Test Corona Positive, Takes Total To 10

Pakistan’s tour of England is looking in doubt days before the team has to leave. After the news of 3 players of the touring side came out yesterday 7 more tested COVID-19 positive. A day before yesterday Shadab Khan, Haider Ali, and Haris Rauf have tested positive.

Now, Fakhar Zaman, Imran Khan, Kashif Bhatti, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Hasnain, Mohammad Rizwan, and Wahab Riaz have tested positive. This has taken the number of affected to 10 out of the 29 member squad. Apart from the 10 players support personnel named Malang Ali (masseur) also tested positive.

This has come at a time when the Pakistani team has to leave for England on 28th June. Like Haider, Haris and Shadab none of the seven players and masseur had reported any prior symptoms of Covid-19 until they underwent first round of testing on Monday ahead of the side’s departure for Manchester“, said a statement from PCB. The PCB has asked those tested positive to observe strict quarantine.

“The recent positive tests of some of the fittest athletes, who had not shown any symptoms, clearly reflect the danger this virus possesses”, said PCB Chief Executive Wasim Khan. The 1st Pakistani cricketer to test positive for the virus was former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi. Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza also test positive for coronavirus while cricket South Africa reported 7 cases.
