India is going to face New Zealand tomorrow in this ICC World Cup 2019. But everyone is talking about the India vs Pakistan match. Even the broadcasters.
Recently, Star Sports released an ad mocking Pakistan for not winning a single match in ICC World Cup till date. Now, Pakistan has come up with their version of ad mocking India by mimicking Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman.
What is in this ad?
Broadcaster advertisements for India and Pakistan matches always look nationalistic. Sometimes the ad seems more than just an ad and more like a personal attack.
Pakistan has released a new ad to build up hype for the upcoming clash between India vs Pakistan, which is scheduled on June 16.
Mimicking the viral interrogation video of Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman by Pakistani military, after he was captured a day after the Balakot airstrike. Pakistan’s Jazz TV broadcasted an ad with a model made to look like the IAF officer with the help of his trademark mustache. The model (fake Abhinandan) is wearing a Blue Jersey that represent the Indian cricket team and answering questions on camera.
Trying to be funny, the ad makers choose to use the viral statement of Abhinandan as the main dialogues. The model kept repeating, “I’m sorry, I am not supposed to tell you this.” In the ad model is asked questions related to team India’s strategy and other game stuff, to which he only replied by saying, “I’m sorry, I am not supposed to tell you this.”
To make it even more hilarious, they added the tea and cup pun in the ad. If you haven’t seen the Pakistani ad world cup yet, check it here:

We are taking it as a funny joke, but by no means mocking sensitive issues and reviving bad memories is a good decision.
Poking old wounds might end up in bad news for Pakistan. The pakistani world cup ad is not that hilarious. But we are trying to play like a sportsman, we are laughing on the racist jokes Pakistan decided to make in this ad. Trying to take it just like a joke. When in reality, it’s making us all angry.
The scene in which model sips tea from a cup serves as a reminder of the intense questioning and cruel beatings the Abhinandan was subjected to in custody.
