What do you do when you got nothing to do with the power you have in your hands? Ban pre-wedding shoots. Yea, it’s bizarre as it sounds.
Community panchayats of the three communities namely Jains, Gujarati and Sindhis have proposed a diktat to ban pre-wedding shoot. The communities have also threatened to boycott those who don’t adhere to the order.
Adding to this, the Jain community has even banned the participation of male choreographs in the wedding ceremony.
The President of Gujarati community has reportedly issued a circular which bans both pre-wedding shoot and male choreographers in ladies sangeet during the wedding ceremonies.
The Bhopal Gujarat community president, identified as Sanjay Patel, said that “The community has decided to ban these activities as it has been felt that many marriages break even before they take off. It is a collective decision and those who will not adhere to this will be ostracised from the community”.
The three communities notably argue that such practice leads to a bad impact on the social bonding between the people.
As per Pramod Himanshu Jain, the move will bar male choreographers from training pre-wedding “obscene” dance performances.
“Our spiritual guru called it obscene so we have issued the necessary directions,” Jain said.
Notably, in May 2018, the similar diktat was issued by Sindhi panchayat in Ujjain. The diktat was openly opposed by the people as people argued that no one person or a group of people can make decisions for the whole community.
