The Internet can be ruthless if first, you are a celebrity, and second, you mess up. And something same happened on Thursday when India met Bangladesh for the 2nd T20I in Rajkot.
Put on to bat first by team India, Liton Das and Mohammad Naim gave Bangladesh’s inning a kick start, the one that frustrated India for the major part of the innings. The two batsmen were batting fine until the 6th over when Chahal produced an opportunity that he thought had got him his man.
However, Pant messed up.
The spinner struck in his very first over – or at least thought he had – as Liton failed to connect the bat with the ball and ended up in the middle of the pitch. Although, Pant collected the ball to dislodge the bails off, however, the umpire noticed he collected it too soon i.e. from in front of the wickets.
Ignoring the young wicketkeeper he is, Twiiter was overwhelmed with memes trolling him.
