Permission to perform a show, which was scheduled on August 28, to Munawar Faruqui was denied by the Delhi Police, as “the show will affect the communal harmony in the area”, said a Police report quoted by ANI.

Permission was denied after Surendra Kumar Gupta, VHP President, Delhi, opposed the show. He sent a letter to the Police Commissioner and mentioned that the comedian was responsible for the recent clash in Hyderabad and said that he mocks the Hindu gods in his show. The show was supposed to be held at “Dr. SPM Civic Centre, Kedarnath Sahni Auditorium” between 2:00 PM and 9:30 PM. And earlier this private show was given permission.

VHP or The Vishwa Hindu Parishad requested Delhi Police with a formal letter to cancel the show of the comedian and warned that there will be protests if it was given permission.

Munawar’s Arrest In 2021

Munawar’s arrest in 2021, has now made all his shows “a law and order issue for the city police forces. Last week, his Bengaluru show was canceled, though he said it was owing to his health reasons. A day after his Bengaluru show was canceled, he performed in Hyderabad amid heavy security”, mentioned by Hindustantimes.

T Raja Singh, now suspended BJP leader, ahead of Munawar Faruqui’s show warned that if he gets permission to perform in Hyderabad, he will burn down the whole venue. Thus, after this threat, Raja Singh, on Friday night was neutralized by Police along with other BJP workers of the city. “A day after, on August 21, Raja Singh posted a YouTube video on Jai Shree Ra, Channel Telangana where he made some derogatory comments against the Prophet which triggered protests in Hyderabad. On August 23, Raja Singh was arrested and the BJP suspended him. He secured bail,” mentioned Hindustantimes.

He again uploaded a video and told me he was not scared to go to jail again, “I just want to say that if someone insults my religion, I will reply in the same language, notwithstanding the punishment for it,” he said. On August 25, he was arrested again.
