Pictures And Video: Couple Marries At The Border Of ‘Two States’, Adheres To Protocols

We have seen marriages online and offline amidst this pandemic but this is somewhat unique. This has taken on the border of two states as the couple belonged to 2 different states. The story may sound something like a movie (2 States) but it has happened down South in India.

The couple married on the border of Tamil Nadu-Kerala. The idea was to avoid quarantine hassles. 30 years old groom Robinson a native from Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu and his bride 25-year old Priyanka, a resident from Munnar in Kerala tied the knot on the border of 2 states on the 7th June. The couple wore masks, used sanitizers, and while performing the ceremonies.

The marriage took place at Chinnar Bridge in Idukki that connects Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The gathering at the occasion was minimum and adherence to social distancing norms was there. There was no priest and just the families of the bride and groom watched the wedding from either side of the bridge. The exact spot of marriage was Excise Checkpost in Chinnar (Idukki).

The officials rolled out a cloth mat as the mandapam on the road in front of the check-post office. They arranged things like the lamp and fruits for the ceremony. As per officials if the 2 families had crossed the state border they would have to be quarantined as per rule.
