Beware of Pink WhatsApp Scam And Do Not Click Any Link

Scams and fake news have long been widespread on WhatsApp. The app is one of the most popular in the country and is owned by Meta. It has millions of active users. Due to its popularity, nevertheless, scammers may simply use it as a target for promoting their fraudulent activities. 

Recently, a new WhatsApp message that contains a link to download “Pink WhatsApp” has become quite popular. Scammers convince individuals to download the app and get a new version of WhatsApp with additional features by providing them with this link.

The Mumbai Police has released a public alert over a popular WhatsApp message known as “Pink WhatsApp.” The officials have issued an advisory warning people about this new and latest scam linked to the WhatsApp application and urging them not to open the link or download the app.

“The rumor that ‘New Pink Look WhatsApp with more features’ is now making headlines among WhatsApp users is a scam that might result in the malicious application hacking of your mobile device. 

It happens frequently that scammers create new strategies and tactics to mislead innocent consumers into falling for their traps and committing online fraud. The alert advises users to be Aware, Alert, and Attentive to these types of scams in order to be safe and secure in the digital environment.

The Mumbai Police have reported that a false message is doing the rounds on WhatsApp. The notification promises to provide an upgrade that would alter the platform’s logo’s color. It also promises to provide fresh features to improve the WhatsApp user experience. The link is a phishing one, according to the police, and if it is clicked, would either attack the user’s phone and steal personal data or allow the fraudster remote control over the device.
