Prime Minsiter of India, Narendra Modi, paid a surprise visit to Ladakh on Friday to boost soldiers’ morale and review the ongoing situation in Ladakh amidst standoff with China.
Images showed PM Modi sitting in a camouflage tent as he spoke to the troops seated at a distance from each other against the backdrop of the Himalayas. Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat and Army Chief MM Naravane were present.
The visit was quoted as a clear message to China and the opposition, both of which don’t seem to be standing with India in the ongoing situation along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
In daily messages, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has been demanding to know from the PM about Chinese incursions at the LAC and targeting the government on its handling of the China crisis instead of standing with the jawans.
PM Modi’s itinerary includes visiting the war memorial in Ladakh and meeting the soldiers who were injured in the clash against China on June 15-16. He will return back to New Delhi by 12:30.
