As the cases of COVID-19 are rising in Delhi the government is in action mode. While the excluding decision of reserving hospital beds for Delhites was put done by Lt.Governor new ways have been found out. Delhi government is using banquet halls and hotels in the capital as a quarantine facility.
Several banquet halls including Shehnai Banquet located in front of LNJP Hospital are turned into quarantine centers. Further, the luxurious Taj Mansingh Hotel has been attached with the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital (SGRH) for using it as an attached COVID-19 facility.
As per reports from Livemnt hotel staff will be provided with protective gear and basic training to handle COVID-19 patients. The charges for using the rooms will be collected by the hospital, which will then hand it over to the hotel. Similarly, other hotels like Hotel Surya and Hotel Crowne Plaza would also be used as the quarantine facilities.
While the facilities at hotels may be top class the preparations at banquet halls is not that promising. There have been no arrangements for the Oxygen cylinders or emergency medical equipments and prima facie only beds laid at some distance are seen. The Delhi Deputy CM earlier said that Delhi would have 5.5 lakh cases by the end of July. Presently Delhi has 47,102 cases and 1,904 deaths with cases rising each day.
