Quick Guide to Scanning Aadhaar QR Codes Using mAadhaar App or Aadhaar QR Scanner

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) gives Aadhaar cards to all Indian citizens. The Aadhaar card allows every Indian citizen to be identified and establish each individual’s uniqueness based on demographic and biometric data. However, some people use duplicate or fake Aadhaar cards to complete their tasks. To determine the validity of an Aadhaar card, use the mAadhaar App or Aadhaar QR Scanner to scan the Aadhaar QR Code.

How To Use The mAadhaar App To Scan An Aadhaar QR Code

  • Step 1: Download and open the mAadhaar app.
  • Step 2: Launch the QR Code Scanner. Please keep in mind that every printed Aadhaar card contains a QR Code.
  • Step 3 Scan the QR Code on the presented Aadhaar.
  • Step 4: Verify the same with the physical copy presented to you.

According to the UIDAI website, “This new digitally signed QR code can be read ONLY using UIDAI’s Windows-based Custom client for desktops/laptops and validate it against UIDAI digital signatures in real-time. Therefore, any fraud attempted on e-Aadhaar can be easily detected by using a QR Code scanner.”

Any Aadhaar card may be checked online or in person. To verify offline, scan the QR code on your e-Aadhaar, Aadhaar letter, or Aadhaar PVC card. This QR code scanner may be used to validate the authenticity of the Aadhaar card that has been handed to you.

How To Check The Validity Of An Aadhaar Card By Scanning The QR Code

The UIDAI has replaced the current QR code on e-Aadhaar that carried resident demographic facts with a secure QR code that includes demographics as well as the Aadhaar holder’s image, so you can check the authenticity of your Aadhaar card by scanning the QR code.

Previously, QR codes on Aadhaar print letters and e-Aadhaar carried just the Aadhaar number holder’s demographic information. UIDAI has released a new Secure QR Code that includes demographic information as well as an image of the Aadhaar number holder. Because it is digitally authenticated by UIDAI, the information in the QR Code is safe and tamper-proof.

The new digitally signed secure QR code can be scanned and validated against UIDAI digital signatures in real time using UIDAI’s bespoke application. As a result, any effort at Aadhaar fraud may be immediately identified using a QR Code reader.
