R Praggnanandhaa Beats World Champ Magnus Carlsen
After the score at the end of the regulation game tied at 2-2, Praggnanandhaa defeated him, the world champion, in a blitz tiebreak, which was a moment of disbelief for Magnus Carlsen.
At first, Carlen was leading the game, but he messed it up at the end when he forced Armageddon against Praggnanandhaa. However, based on complete scoring Magnus Carlsen won the event and Praggnanandhaa was placed second.
R Praggnanandhaa started marvellously, in the tournament he started with four back-to-back wins that also includes a 3-1 victory over Levon Aronian, World No.6. He started by defeating Alireza Firouzja and later won over Anish Giri and Hans Nieman.
“Praggnanandhaa’s winning run came to an end at the hands of China’s Quang Liem Le in the fifth round. He suffered his second loss after he went down to Poland’s Jan-Krzystof Duda via the tie-break in the sixth round”, mentioned indianexpress.
