RPG Attack On Punjab Police Intelligence HQ In Mohali

On Monday, Punjab Police Intelligence Headquarter in Mohali was attacked by a Rocket Propelled Grenade or RPG. Attack triggered a blast immediately, a senior official asserted to The Indian Express.

Viresh Kumar Bhawra, DGP, Punjab reached the spot immediately to analyse the situation and told The Indian Express that nobody was injured from the attack, which took place around 7:45 pm and further probe is on.

As per the Senior official, with the impact of the RPG attack, a building wall and window shattered inside.

He Said, “The RPG was fired at a distance from the main entrance by unidentified persons who are believed to have fled in a vehicle. A car was spotted moving from the site the moment the RPG was fired.”

A rocket-propelled grenade or RPG is a weapon that fires a missile which is equipped with an explosive warhead. The weapon is fired by using shoulder support and the missile immediately explodes when it comes in contact. Officer said the weapon was “made in China” and was discovered with the help of a lot number written on it.

Well after the attack, the investigation was begun immediately and Mohali was sealed. The quick reaction teams reached the spot with SSP K S Chahal on board. The forensic teams along with bomb disposal squad also reached on the spot.

Senior Officers

The attacked building houses a large number of senior Officers including the one holding IG rank. As said by the Police Officer, senior officers had already left the building when the attack took place.

It is very notable that the attack happened just three days after the arrest of four suspected terrorists at Karnal, Haryana and also the recovery of an explosive device in Chadigarh on April 24.

Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal also tweeted and said, ‘culprits will be punished’.
