SBI Alerts About Fake PAN SMS Update Scam

State Bank of India has issued a warning for all its customers. It informed that a Fake PAN update SMS is circulating among the users urging them to update their PAN to prevent their accounts from getting blocked.

Informing about the matter, PIB Fact Check Tweeted, “A #Fake message issued in the name of SBI is asking customers to update their PAN number to avoid their account from getting blocked”.

The Fake SMS reads, “Dear Customer, your SBI YONO account closed today, contact now and update your PAN number details.”

As this SMS has gone viral, PIB has urged people not to respond to such emails or SMS that ask about their personal or banking details. Also if you have an encounter with such fake messages you can report them at the report.phishing@sbi,co.in.

PIB’s message reads, “Never respond to emails/SMS asking to share your personal or banking details. Report at [email protected].

Also, the Finance Ministry on Monday informed that “SB! had been authorized to issue and encash electoral bonds through its 29 authorised branches from November 9 to 15. The State Bank of India (SBI), in the XXIII Phase of sale, has been authorised to issue and
encash Electoral Bonds through its 29 authorized branches (as per the list enclosed) w.e.f. 09.11.2022 to 15.11.2022,” quoted by livemint.

Here Are The SBI Tips To Prevent Online Fraud:

  • People are only required to enter a UPI PIN when making payments, not when receiving.
  • Always before sending money check the name, mobile number or UPI ID at least two times.
  • Never share your UPI PIN, even by mistake.
  • Avoid scanning a QR code for receiving payment as it’s not required.
  • Don’t use or download apps other than official sources like Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
