Bringing relief to Star India (P) Ltd and Bharti Airtel Ltd Supreme Court (SC) set aside Rs 1 Crore fine on its show. The show in question was the popular ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ aka KBC.
Rs 1 crore fine was imposed on KBC’s maker by NCDRC (National Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission) in 2008. The fine was imposed as NCDRC found show indulging in”an unfair trade practice”as per the Consumer Protection Act, 1986.

Hearing an appeal to this verdict of NCDRC the Supreme court set aside the fines on the makers. The show however now airs on Sony TV and is not with Star India anymore.
