Solar Eclipse 2024: Mark Your Calendar for Date, Timing, and More

A solar eclipse is an astronomical phenomenon, but it has a unique meaning in religion and astrology. All life on Earth is impacted by eclipses, and it is never advisable to look straight at the sun with the unaided eye. April 8, 2024, is fast coming and will see the first solar eclipse of 2024.

Solar Eclipse 2024 Timings

This eclipse won’t be visible in India, although it will begin at 09:12 PM IST and last until 01:25 AM IST the following day. The northern sections of the Americas (apart from Alaska), Canada, Central America, the northern areas of South America, Western Europe, the Pacific, the Atlantic, the Arctic, Mexico, and the northeastern regions of England and Ireland will all be able to see it.

Timings will therefore differ based on the time zone of the nation. This eclipse, which falls under the sign of Pisces and the Revati Nakshatra, will be a total solar eclipse, meaning the moon will completely hide the sun.

How The Solar Eclipse Appears

There are times when the moon passes in front of the sun during an eclipse, briefly preventing light from the sun from reaching the Earth. In this instance, the moon’s whole shadow falls entirely on Earth, giving the impression of darkness. We refer to this condition of the sun as a total solar eclipse.

Things You Should Do During Solar Eclipse

  • During the Solar Eclipse, reciting Lord Shiva’s mantra might help protect oneself from its harmful effects.
