Militants Executed Srinagar Grenade Explosion
A grenade explosion took place in Srinagar on Sunday, as per media reports it was planned by militants. A civilian was killed and 23 were injured including a policeman. The explosion happened around 4.20 p.m at the busiest market of Amir Kadal. This market is always rushed by the shoppers as the flea market is always set up on Sundays. The militants took this as an advantage and executed the attack on Sunday.
As the reports suggest, a grenade was thrown by the militants while the civilians were busy shopping at the market. In this incident one civilian named ‘Muhammad Aslam Makdhoomi’was severely injured and died at a nearby hospital. He was from Srinagar’s Nowhatta area and suffered a piercing injury that took his life. As per officials, a girl also got injured and treatment is going on at a nearby hospital. One policeman was also injured among the 23 others injured in the explosion.
Inspector-General of Police Vijay Kumar said, “The police are trying to identify the militants. The module will be busted soon.”
Police Got CCTV Footage
Sujit Kumar, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) said the police have got the CCTV footage and will take serious actions.
He Said “It wasn’t a security lapse as a policeman has also got injured. Steps will be taken to prevent attacks at busy places. We will not allow it to become a trend.”
Now the crowded Sunday market is a deserted place. This was not the first attack in this area, as a similar grenade attack took place last year in October month.
Police asked the civilians “to be vigilant and report any suspected activity to thwart the nefarious designs of militants.”
Mehbooba Mufti, President of Peoples Democratic Party said “Condemn this dastardly attack. People of J&K have been paying with their lives and sadly neither India nor Pakistan is doing anything to end the conflict and stop this bloodshed.”
