  • The lost or forgotten Aadhaar number may be obtained online by visiting the following URL https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/retrieve-eid-uid
  • Select your requirement: Aadhaar/EID you wish to retrieve.
  • Enter your entire name as it appears on Aadhaar, your cellphone number/email address, and the Captcha. Then, enter the OTP.
  • After mobile OTP-based authentication, the requested Aadhaar number/EID will be given by SMS to the associated cellphone number.
  • This service is free of charge.

UIDAI offers several alternatives for tracing or retrieving your lost/forgotten Aadhaar number, even if your mobile/email address is not linked to Aadhaar.

Option 1: An operator at an Aadhaar enrolling facility can assist you recover your Aadhaar number via the “Print Aadhaar” service.

  • Aadhaar card holders must visit an Aadhaar enrolment centre in person.
  • Please provide the following necessary information: Name, gender, district, or PIN code from the Aadhaar-generated enrollment.
  • If the requirement cannot be tracked due to the availability of many entries, further demographic information such as year of birth, C/O, state, and so on may be provided to restrict the search. 
  • Provide biometric identification with a single fingerprint or iris (RD Device).
  • If a match is found, the operator will print out the e-Aadhaar letter.

Option 2: Retrieving Lost/Forgotten Aadhaar numbers by contacting the UIDAI Helpline number 1947

Stage 1

  • Call 1947 (toll-free).
  • Please provide the demographic information requested by the executive.
  • If a match is found, the executive will supply the EID on-call.
  • This service is free of charge.

Stage 2 (IVRS)

  • Call 1947 again. After selecting the Language choice, key in option 1 (request status), followed by option 2 (request of Aadhaar enrolment status).
  • Provide the available EID number of the Aadhaar-generated enrollment to IVRS.
  • Provide the Date of Birth and PIN code as per the Aadhaar-generated enrollment to IVRS.
  • If a match is detected, IVRS will provide the Aadhaar number.
