Stone Pelters On Medical Workers Booked Under ‘National Security Act’

As the horrifying images of people pelting stones on health workers surfaced yesterday the government has come hard. A viral video from Indore’s Tatpatti Bakhal locality stones were being pelted at the health workers who were there to screen people. This sparked huge outrage in media.

Taking cognizance of that the Madhya Pradesh government has taken strict action. The Indore district administration invoked the National Security Act, 1980, against 4 the accused. “We have arrested 13 of the accused. The Act has been invoked against four of them“, informed Inspector General of the Police, Indore Zone, Vivek Sharma.

A joint team of health workers, revenue officials, Anganwadi workers, municipal officials, and police personnel visited he locality yesterday when the incident happened. “Attack on paramedical staff and doctors, who are risking their lives to save people’s lives, will not be tolerated at any cost,” said Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

Indore has been the center of Madhya Pradesh’s COVID-19 outbreak. Of the 111 cases in Madhya Pradesh so far, Indore alone has recorded 82 cases.
