Students Across Indian Universities, Colleges Joins Protest Against CAA

A day after anti-CAA protests were seen in Jamia Milia Islamia and Aligarh Muslim University, various colleges and universities have joined them in their protest against the same. Notably, protests against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019, took place in Lucknow’s Nadwa College on Monday.

At the Lucknow campus, students were seen pelting stones and slipers from over the university gate at the policemen. “Around 150 people had come out to protest and raise slogans. The situation is normal now, students are going back to their classrooms,” police said.

As of now, Mamata Banerjee is also leading a “peacefull” rally in a protest against the CAA in Kolkata. Nevertheless, after Mamata Banerjee tweeted about a “mega rally” in Kolkata this afternoon, the Governor posted that he was “extremely anguished” at the “unconstitutional and inflammatory” act.

The Supreme Court of India, on the other hand, has also condemned the violence across the country and universities. The Court said that it will hear matters concerning violent incidents at Jamia Milia Islamia University and Aligarh Muslim University on Tuesday provided the rioting stops immediately.
