Five years after it’s scrapping as a public holiday in the state the new Hemant Soren led government in Jharkhand has reinstated Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s Birthday as a public holiday.
During a review meeting on Tuesday Chief Minister (CM) Hemant Soren, ordered that January 23 be declared a public holiday. The CM said, “Jharkhand had been the ‘karma Bhoomi’ (workplace) of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, whose contribution in the freedom movement can never be forgotten. We all should take inspiration from his life”.
He also urged the youth to follow the footsteps of Netaji and serve the state and the nation. Hemant Soren is leading a JMM-Congress-RJD coalition government in Jharkhand since December last year after the sitting BJP government faced a defeat in the state elections.
