The cops are investigating the mischievous merit lists of several colleges in West Bengal after Bollywood actor Sunny Leone and singer Neha Kakkar, Japanese cartoon character Shinchan Nohara’s name “mischievously” topped these merit lists.
Recently, Shinchan’s name appeared at the top of the BSc (Honours) merit list of Siliguri College in north Bengal, an official of the institution told news agency Press Trust of India on Monday.
“The name was immediately removed and a fresh list put up on the college website. We have lodged a police complaint as it was an act of mischief,” he said.
The college said that it has outsourced an agency to compile the merit list based on details submitted by the candidates during online applications. However, somebody might be either providing wrong information or messing with the merit list.
Recently singer Neha Kakkar’s name appeared in the BA English (Honours) merit list of Malda’s Manikchak College. Before that actor, Sunny Leone’s name has also appeared in the merit list of three colleges.
The four colleges have lodged complaints with cyber cells of the police.
