As the migrant workers are stuck across the country in different states Telangana has come ahead. While we saw the workers being required to pay the train fare and food charges this time this is a positive move. The state has decided that it would run 40 special trains for them.
Telangana would be deploying 40 trains daily for a week to send migrants workers in the state home. The train service starting from Tuesday would ferry them to their native places in states, including Bihar and West Bengal. The trains would run from Warangal, Khammam, and Ramagundam stations among others.
Social distancing norms would be followed and each train would carry 1,000 to 1, 200 workers. Incidentally, Telangana was the first to run a special train for workers with the help of Indian Railways. The first shramik train ran from Telangana to Hatia in Jharkhand.

“The CM had taken a decision to run special trains for the migrant workers to reach their destination. The CM spoke to SC Railway General manager Sri Gajanan Mallya and requested him to arrange for 40 special trains from Tuesday“, said the official note. Meanwhile, workers have already registered their names to go to their native places by the special trains.
