On Sunday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal inaugurated the ₹99-crore Chandni Chowk redevelopment project. The Revamped Chandni Chowk project aimed at conserving and decongesting the heritage structure of the Mughal-era market.
A senior PWD official said that the preparations are in full swing for the inauguration of the revamped stretch between the Red Fort and Fatehpuri Masjid. However, the first phase of the redevelopment plan stretched between the two landmarks (the Red Fort and Fatehpuri Masjid) has successfully revamped and motorized vehicles are not allowed.
In the first phase, facilities like ATMs, toilets, bollards, and benches were set up. Additionally, electric cables have taken underground and made a dedicated lane for non-motorized transport and walkways. Afterwards, the second phase will take place by PWD and SRDC.
