In a bizarre incident, a truck driver from Dandeli town in north Maharashtra was fined Rs. 500 for not wearing a helmet while driving a truck. Yes, you read it right. The notice was sent to truck driver Nazeer Ahmad’s residence which specifies him as a ‘lorry’ driver.

Such instances of commuters being slapped with illogical fines have surged ever since the amendment of the Motor Vehicle Act. Under the updated clauses of the Motor Vehicle Act, the traffic defaulters are charged with heavy challans.
