The triple party coalition of NCP-Congress-Shiv Sena aka Maha Vikas Aghadi and its leader Uddhav Thackrey the newly appointed Chief Minister of Maharashtra passed the floor test on Saturday.
BJP MLAs staged a walkout during the confidence vote and were seen shouting slogans against the tri-party coalition government outside the Vidhan Bhawan. Uddhav was successful in achieving the support of 169 MLAs in the proceedings of the house that were telecasted live.
One MLA from MNS (Maharashtra Navnirman Sena), one from CPI (M), 2 MLAs from AIMIM ( All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen ) didn’t vote (that is neither in favor of confidence motion nor against it) and stayed neutral. None of the MLAs present at the time of voting, voted against the government.
With this, the official stamp is placed on the new government in Maharashtra and Uddhav Thackrey has now become the leader of the house in the legislative assembly. The CM took charge of his office on Friday.
