Union Minister Nitin Gadkari To Make Major Changes In Toll Tax Rules

Major Toll Tax Rules Being Modified

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister, Nitin Gadkari, informed that travellers will not have to make payments on toll plazas, the amount will directly be debited from the bank accounts linked to the codes. Because the toll plazas are being removed and advanced cameras will be installed. So, vehicle owners will not have to wait in long lines to pass through to continue their journey. Moreover, in 2019, the Ministry made it mandatory for vehicles to have company-fitted number plates.

Toll Tax Charging Pattern Changed

Currently, the toll tax charging criteria is a pocket-draining system. Because the travellers not only have to pay for the fuel but high toll fees are also included, that makes even small trips more expensive. If someone drives for even 10kms after paying toll tax, he or she is charged 75 km. But the new payment system will only deduct the set amount as per how many KMs the vehicle is travelled.

The Union Minister also said that the authority is planning a few changes in order to reduce the total number of road accidents by a huge margin by 2024. Moreover, he denied the rumours of the National Highways Authority of India going through a financial crisis.

26 Green Expressway

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said the Government is working continually to build 26 Green Expressways within the deadline. He asserted with the current progress rate the Green Expressway will be ready by 2024 in the country.
