‘Uruguayan Diplomat’ Breaks Lockdown Rule In ‘Delhi’, Argues With Police

While the ‘Delhi Police’ was busy enforcing the ‘COVID-19 Lockdown’ they found a ‘VIP’ violator yesterday. A foreigner woman cycling on roads of Delhi without a ‘mask’ was stopped by the police officials. To their surprise, the lady was a diplomat of ‘Uruguay‘.

The lady who was cycling as a part of her exercise routine was from the ‘Uruguay’ embassy. The lady who was stopped at Paschimi Marg road in Vasant Vihar Valentina Obispo. Valentina is Head of Administration at the Uruguay embassy. On being stopped by cops she started arguing.

“We didn’t receive anything. You want to see the mail of the embassy. I can show you. We didn’t receive anything” she said on asked about MEA guidelines by the police. When the police asked which embassy she belongs to ‘the lady cycled away’ without answering. The diplomat refused to show her identity card to the officials.

Delhi police have decided to send an official complaint to the Uruguay embassy regarding the diplomat defying lockdown orders. They would also be writing to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) about this. MEA clarified that the ministry had issued limited curfew passes to the diplomatic community. It advised the diplomats to adhere to lockdown guidelines.
