As migrant workers are moving in from different parts of the country to their homes in Uttar Pradesh the state government made a big announcement. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that they would be provided with jobs and houses. The CM made an announcement on Tuesday.
He said that migrant workers who have returned from other states, will be provided affordable houses and shop in Uttar Pradesh. Not only this the state government would pay the GST (Goods and Services Tax) for them. Facilities like power, water, and other basic amenities would also be provided.
Here are what the state government has planned for the workers:
- Social security, insurance, and training with internship allowance to be provided by Kamgar/Shramik Kalyan Aayog.
- Skill-mapping of around 16 lakh migrant workers who have returned (done so far). This is done to boost their prospect to be employed in the MSMEs in the state.
- Arrangements have been made to bring back around 21.17 lakh migrant workers to the state in 1,454 special trains.
The state has already segregated the skill mapping data of the workers who registered on the portal. As per the data, the biggest chunk of migrant workers have the skill of working in real estate – around 1.5 lakh. The plan of the state government looks promising an can be helpful in easing stress on migrants in the post-corona world.
