In New Delhi, Vodafone Idea has formally launched eSIMs for prepaid customers, joining the ranks of places like Mumbai and Goa where this feature is already accessible. An eSIM replaces a physical SIM card with an integrated digital SIM card that works with your smartphone.
Activation may be completed without going to a shop by scanning a code or doing it straight from your phone’s settings. Travelers will find this technology especially useful as it allows for the easy changeover between numerous network plans and the simultaneous storing of multiple profiles.
Additionally, unlike conventional physical SIM cards, eSIMs are unaffected by damage or loss. By lowering the amount of plastic waste produced, they also support environmental sustainability. In conclusion, eSIMs are more convenient, adaptable, and environmentally friendly than regular SIM cards.

Make sure your email address is linked to Vi to activate your eSIM if you are an existing client. Send ‘Email Your Email ID’ to 199 if it isn’t. You can then continue with the eSIM activation process after 48 hours.
How The eSIM Can Be Activated
- eSIM your registered email ID’ in a message to 199 will initiate the changeover.
- Within fifteen minutes of receiving a confirmation message, respond “ESIMY” to indicate that you are still interested.
- Approval could be needed during a call.
- You will receive a QR Code on your registered email address upon acceptance. Use the Settings on your phone to scan it.
- Follow with your device’s activation instructions. For one device, the QR code is good for seven days.
- For this number, choose Primary/Secondary as the default line, then hit Done.
- In less than 30 minutes, the eSIM will be enabled.
