Ditching mountains, bridges and everything else romantic, an Italian politician choose a parliament debate to propose love to his girlfriend. Can we be more impressed?
Italian MP Flavio Di Muro was participating in a debate on post-earthquake reconstruction when he sensed it as a perfect opportunity to go down on the knees to Elisa De Leo.
In the footage, one can see Mr. Di Muro standing with all-smiles (ofc nervous smile) as he addresses the Chamber of Deputies in Rome.
“This is not a day like any other for me, it’s a different day, it’s a special day,” he says before reaching below the seat to pull the ring-box out.
“I’m talking to the gallery to say: Elisa, would you marry me?,” he continues.
Moments later, cheers echo the parliament as his colleagues hug the blushing Flavio Di Muro.
Nevertheless, Roberto Fico, the speaker of the chamber intervened saying that “I understand you but it’s not appropriate to use an intervention for this purpose”.
However, Flavio Di Muro in his witty self said that proposing her 6-year partner in the parliament made all the sense because she was close to her both politically and personally.
And yes, Elisa De Leo said yes to the proposal.
