West Bengal, Assam Phase 1 Voting in Assembly Election 2021 – Highlights

In Assam and West Bengal, the polling booths opened at 7 am and the closing time extended by an hour due to pandemic. As per the report, nearly 76% turnout in Assam and 82% in West Bengal in Assembly Election 2021 Phase 1 poll.

On Saturday, West Bengal and Assam have successfully completed the assembly elections 2021 voting phase 1. The polling started at 7 in the morning in both the states and concluded at 6 pm due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The Election Commission (EC) released data stating that West Bengal has recorded 79.79 per cent of voter whereas Assam recorded 72.30 per cent poll in the first phase of Assembly Election 2021.

In Assam and West Bengal Assembly Elections phase 1, nearly 1.54 crore voters were eligible and voting for 30 seats in West Bengal while in Assam, 47 seats were in the fray.

For 294 assembly seats, the voting done in different phases. Out of this, 68 are reserved for Scheduled Castes and 16 for the Scheduled Tribes.

However, as per the Election Commission website, the results of the Assembly Election 2021 for West Bengal will be announced on May 2, Sunday.
