WhatsApp Releases Stable Finger Lock Feature For Android Users

Limited only for beta testers for months, WhatsApp has finally released the stable version of its new biometric authentication feature for all the android users. The feature dubbed as “fingerprint lock” can be accessed from WhatsApp’s Privacy settings.

Once the feature is activated, thereafter, you would be required to validate your fingerprint to unlock the app. From a security point of view, this would eventually block any sort of unwanted or unauthorized access to your personal conversations.

The fingerprint unlock feature uses the device’s in-built fingerprint sensor to unlock WhatsApp, which makes it impossible for the third party to gain entry into the app.

The fingerprint unlock also lets you choose the time frame after which the app will lock automatically. As of now, WhatsApp has introduced three time frames – immediately after closing the app, after 1-minute, or after 30-minutes.

How To Access The Feature

In order to access the feature on your Android device, update the WhatsApp from the Play Store to ensure it is running the latest version. Now head to WhatsApp Settings on your handset, then Account, and then click on Privacy.
