WhatsApp is likely to add features like an “unread chat filter button, quick reactions for Status updates, blur tool for media editor, and more.” But for now, the latest update indicates that users will soon be able to hide their online status from others. This will be the best of the best privacy features that users can call for.

The platform has till now allowed us to hide “Profile Picture, Status, and Last Seen for a few hours”, but never had let anyone hide their online status. Now, it is finally likely to arrive soon which Signal has offered to its users and they appreciated it as an excellent privacy option.

Spotted by WaBetaInfo, in “2.22.16.12 Android beta version of WhatsApp ” with a screenshot. Soon it can be spotted by the users in “settings menu > Account > Privacy”. And users can activate it by selecting “Last seen and online”.

“These are Everyone, My Contacts, My Contacts except, and Nobody. In the Online status section, there will be two options: Everyone and Same as last seen. So, if you want your online status from everyone, then you will have to select “Nobody” in the Last Seen section and “Same as last seen” in the online status part.”

Privileges of Hiding Online Status

Having this feature for WhatsApp users would mean, “no one will be able to know if you have opened WhatsApp or not”. People are definitely cranky, they know what they want to know.
