White House ‘Unfollows’ PM Modi, President, And PMO On Twitter Irks India

The move of the White House the office of President of the U.S.A irked the Indians quiet a bit. The White House’s official Twitter account unfollowed the accounts of PM Modi, President of India and PMO. This was done after it followed all these accounts a few days back.

The White Hosue also unfollowed the accounts of the Indian Embassy in the US, the US Embassy in India, and the US Ambassador to India. It came with an explanation for the act as well. It said that it was done as a part of the procedure that it follows.

As per the procedure, the White House follows the accounts of officials from host countries for a brief period. This is done during a presidential trip to retweet their messages in support of the visit. During the U.S. President, Donald Trump’s to India in February White Houses started following these accounts. It unfollowed these accounts early this week which started making the news.

Social media uproar followed as it was taken as an attempt to embarrass India. “I’m dismayed by the “unfollowing” of our President & PM by the White House. I urge the Ministry of External Affairs to take note“, said Congress Party MP Rahul Gandhi.
